Tom Kivett, Managing Director
 
Since receiving his first taste of journalism more than 25 years ago as an intern with the San Francisco Examiner, K&C founder Tom Kivett has established himself as an expert in marketing communications and public relations.

A Big Apple Award recipient, he has held numerous communications positions both within companies and on the agency side. With experience that spans consumer, technology and health, he has counseled a host of industry leaders including:

Agfa, Altec Lansing, EG&G, Kodak, Panasonic, PSE&G, Ricoh, Sharp Electronics and Wolters Kluwer.

During the course of his career, he has served many diverse specialty areas including boating, fishing & outdoor recreation; computers, information technology & data storage; audio & video; mobile & wireless; energy; patent services; and the health, pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

Prior to founding Kivett & Company, he was SVP with WeberShandwick’s New York technology practice in charge of the Sharp Electronics account team. He was responsible for all aspects of U.S. product publicity, including setting the stage for the advent of HDTV, and promoting everything from LCD televisions, digital audio, to PDAs, tablets, laptops and digital copiers, to microwaves and ACs.

Previously, Kivett handled media relations on-site for Panasonic and its computer peripherals division. He also worked on the client side in a senior marketing position with Ovid, a New York City-based health technology company, and was Director of PR for Gulko, a Boston advertising & PR firm. In 1988, he began his career with Miller Communications, one of the preeminent technology PR agencies of the PC era.

A graduate of DePauw University with a B.A. in Philosophy and a minor in English Literature, Kivett also holds an M.A. in Communications from Emerson College. He lives in New York City with his wife and two sons.
